VLSI-Telecommunications Degree Plans

Ph.D. and M.Sc. programs in VLSI-Telcommunications are now open! These programs will allow graduate students to major in IC integrated circuits with emphasis on communications. It is expected that the research topic will involve VLSI hardware implementation of a communication building block or a communication system.

The suggested courses for a MSc or beginning Ph.D. student follow:

  • ECEN 474 VLSI Circuit Design
  • ECEN 626 Analog Circuit Design
  • ECEN 620 Network Theory or
    ECEN 622 Active Network Synthesis
  • ECEN 651 Microprogrammed Control of Digital Systems or
    ECEN 654 VLSI System Design
  • ECEN 689 Special Topics in RF Circuit Design
  • ECEN 644 Discrete-Time Signals
  • ECEN 646 Statistical Communication Theory
  • ECEN 661 Modulation Theory
  • ECEN 604 Channel Coding for Communications Systems or
ECEN 663 Data Compression with Applications to Speech and Video
  • ECEN 681 Seminar
  • ECEN 691 Research Hours
