Data Converters

The major requirement in future signal processing systems for applications such as wireless communications, local and wide area networks, audio and video applications is wide bandwidth and high resolution A/D and D/A converters operating from few MHz to GHz frequencies. Portable devices pose an extra requirement of low power, which further increases the design complexity. Innovative architectural and circuit level techniques are essential for designing high resolution and high speed data converters. The research in our group focuses on improving the speed and resolution of Nyquist (flash, pipeline, folding) and oversampled (continuous time and SC sigma-delta) data converters. Another area of research is to propose new algorithms for automatic calibration of data converters to ensure good performance over process and supply variations.
