VLSI-Telecommunications Degree Plans

Ph.D. and M.Sc. programs in VLSI-Telcommunications are now open! These programs will allow graduate students to major in IC integrated circuits with emphasis on communications. It is expected that the research topic will involve VLSI hardware implementation of a communication building block or a communication system.

The suggested courses for a MSc or beginning Ph.D. student follow:

  • ELEN 474 VLSI Circuit Design
  • ELEN 626 Analog Circuit Design
  • ELEN 620 Network Theory or
    ELEN 622 Active Network Synthesis
  • ELEN 651 Microprogrammed Control of Digital Systems or
    ELEN 654 VLSI System Design
  • ELEN 689 Special Topics in RF Circuit Design
  • ELEN 644 Discrete-Time Signals
  • ELEN 646 Statistical Communication Theory
  • ELEN 661 Modulation Theory
  • ELEN 604 Channel Coding for Communications Systems or
ELEN 663 Data Compression with Applications to Speech and Video
  • ELEN 681 Seminar
  • ELEN 691 Research Hours
